Why do people actually believe in John Edward the psychic?
This guy supposedly talks to dead people, and has a show on it.

He practices Pseudo-psychology, and is the biggest fraud on the face of the planet.

He even did a special on September 11, 2001, claiming he was talking to the victims that died that day.

Why do people still believe this? Did they not take psychology? Or do they call Miss Cleo as well.

Suggestion by it_floatz
People eat John Edward’s crap because people think its exciting to believe in things like psychics. It’s just like how people will almost always believe rumors over the truth. The truth is boring, and people don’t like boring, they like excitement.

I think belief is not forced. If one is intelligent enough, one can either accept or reject such information.

We live in a society that’s ripe for pseudoscience memes of all types. Our public schools have been failing us miserably for decades, churning out students who know _what_ to think (barely) but not _how_ to think. (Ironically, our schools have been so bad for so long that most people are completely ignorant of all the education they’re missing!) Rational thinking, which includes logic, skepticism and the scientific method, are at best only touched upon.

The result? A society largely unprepared with the mental tools needed to critically and intelligently evaluate outrageous claims and beliefs. In a rational and educated society, people like John Edward, Sylvia Brown, and the people hawking Nostradamus predictions would all be out of business.

What do you think? Answer below!

Do you think Slyvia Brown proofs that psychics are fake?
Psychic said on TV that Amanda Berry is dead and her family should forget about it, but she was found just a couple days ago, and still alive, so is she exposed as a fake?

Suggestion by Holly
Well I mean yeah, she’s a fake, manipulating people in their time of need to get money. Smart move, that. Being psychic’s always been my backup plan if I don’t make enough money being a scientist or a writer. This must be hell for her career, though if she’s well-known enough to have something like that happen she’ll probably be fine. Maybe be able to swing it like she was hearing the spirit of Amanda Berry calling out to her.

Suggestion by Happiness
I was disappointed to hear she was wrong about this one. I loved her images of Heaven but now it seems sad if that was made up too! (I’d love to be just 33 forever in Heaven and go to that huge library with all the books ever written).

Suggestion by Furious Unicorn
She was wrong about Shawn Hornbeck being dead when he was alive too, if fact she is pretty well wrong about every single thing – but her supporters blindly make excuses for her and she carries on spouting bull, ripping people off and making money hand over fist.

If any of the people that claim to be psychics are genuine (and there are thousands of them) why didn’t any of them know that the kidnapped girls were still alive?
